Ila is a space, a micro-space, almost a sensual micro-architecture, where you come to curl up. Practically a refuge, its shape extends to create a space that belongs only to the person who sits on it. This extremely comfortable armchair has been imagined with very simple, uncluttered lines, a classic, solid base that evokes lightness, soft, harmonious angles and a wide seat, creating a vocabulary of rhythmic shapes that give it its iconic character and make you want to settle in. I wanted to design a piece with a very assertive silhouette that settles into the space and immediately draws attention. A nod to designer Joe Colombo's historic Elda, Ila is a strong design gesture, like a signature wherever it is positioned. In a place full of noise and bustle, Ila becomes a haven where you feel protected, where you can escape the hustle and bustle for a while. And when no one is there, Ila becomes a sculpture for its place, open to the eye.
