“Starting from the unit of the plank, the project allows the floor to emerge as a whole, as an architectural surface. A drawing that brings together the singularity of each element to compose a contemporary parquet.” - Patrick Jouin
They are not ornamental. They define a silent framework, a tool for variation. Three variants have been developed, each subtly shifting the position of the cut lines. Each plank retains its singularity while contributing to a shared drawing.
Taken individually, the planks remain simple. It is only once the floor is laid, plank by plank, that the project reveals itself. Through repetition and offset, the lines respond to one another, extend, and break. The conventional reading of parquet fades, giving way to a larger pattern at the scale of the room.
The floor is no longer a background. Between structure and freedom, the assembly opens up a living composition, capable of shaping each space differently. Grid brings together the uniqueness of each plank to create a contemporary parquet, both constructed and open.
