Ila is a space, a micro-space, almost a sensual micro-architecture, where we come to curl up. Practically a refuge, its form extends to create a space that belongs only to the person who takes place there. This extremely comfortable armchair has been designed with very simple and refined lines, a classic and solid base but evoking lightness, soft and harmonious angles, a wide seat, which make up a vocabulary of rhythmic shapes giving it its iconic character and irreparably giving it want to settle there.

I wanted to design an object with a very assertive silhouette that sits in the space and grabs attention. A nod to designer Joe Colombo’s historic Elda, Ila is a strong gesture of design, like a signature wherever it is positioned. In a place that would be inhabited by noise and agitation, Ila becomes a haven where you feel as though you are protected, where you can escape the tumult for a time. And as soon as no one is installed there, Ila becomes a sculpture for her place and offers herself to the gaze.

Ila is a sculpture.
Ila is protection.
Ila is iconic.

These versions are available with or without the large headrest.
