The exhibition "L'anima: du trait à l'objet", hosted in the RBC showroom in Paris, reveals the nine years of collaboration between French designer Patrick Jouin iD and Italian publisher Pedrali. The inspiration, the idea, the design, it is the whole creative process to the product that is presented.

Before the design, there is the personality of the object, the character, the aura that we want to give it. When we draw an object, we draw a silent character who changes the ambience and atmosphere of a space. By outline, we give a soul to a functional object, and this personality will then have an impact in the room it inhabits. A chair, impertinent, funny, serious, chic...

The creative process, the stages born following the first sketch, from design, to the development of models and prototypes, the modifications and tests that constitute the developments until materialization and production, are all as important as the first sketch. This sketch opens the discussion between the publisher and the designer, and these different steps feed the project to the final object.

This is where the designer's proposal and the publisher's know-how meet to offer an object that makes sense, which will mark individuals and accompany them in their daily lives. The technologies available toPedrail, in terms of metal, wood or plastic, combined with the use of CNC machines, allow to push materials to their limits. These technical possibilities are the starting point of any project and create the possibilities.

Here, the design testifies to a will, a proposal, whether it is generosity in the choice of materials, their consumption, their durability, or the very use of this creation. The objective is to create an object with a personality, which by its curves, its cuts, its materials, its aesthetics even, materializes the intention of the designer and the publisher, then the will of the individual who chooses it to be the witness of his daily life, the one that offers character to a space.
